Algisys
A microalgae omega-3 biotech went through six revision rounds to land a nature-forward identity.
Starting point
“We need to do a serious rebranding. We touch a lot of current consumer trends and while our strong & initial focus is on aquaculture, the broader opportunities come with our ingredient as a replacement for fish oil.”
Their own reviewer put it bluntly ahead of the rebrand: “we are starting from scratch... I have not yet found 'The Killer Shot'... icons are just placeholders. We can do a lot better.”

Discussion with the team
- 18 Feb
Company open to a complete brand overhaul - naming, colour, messaging - focused on maximising revenue and brand value.
1st meeting
- 19 Feb
Recommendation to keep the brand non-corporate, using macro visuals of algae structures; decided to retain the “AlgiSys” name for existing recognition.
2nd meeting
- 21 Feb
Scope locked - full brand work from scratch, keeping the name; ‘Life by AlgiSys’ tested well.
3rd meeting
Client feedback
“Working with the SALT team was an absolute pleasure. We’ve needed to rebrand for a while from a ‘tech-heavy’ approach to one that is more consumer facing with an emphasis on health, wellness and sustainability. The creative process we shared and the team’s ability to listen and translate that to capture the right mood, tone, and nuance through images and colours was inspiring. In a word, BRAVO!”

Chosen direction
“The mark is an algae leaf folded into the A, and we turned that leaf shape into a frame for photography, so the logo and the imagery always read as one thing. The greens represent where the omega-3 starts and the blues represent the ocean it protects, which allowed us to colour-code each part of the story without adding anything new to the system.”
“Algisys was talking like a lab when the bigger opportunity was people who care about their health, their pets and the planet. ‘Restore Nature’ gave us a line a scientist and a shopper could both get behind, and taking the fish out of fish oil made the benefit easy to explain in a single sentence.”
